hello my name is Kristi Carroll and I'm the title one coordinator at Charleston Elementary steam Academy police station important important information regarding our school title one was passed in 1965 under the elementary and secondary Education Act it is the largest federal assistance program for our nation schools Title 1 schools receive extra funding from the federal government these dollars are used to identify students experiencing academic difficulties and provide assistance to help these students purchase additional staff programs materials and or supplies and conduct parent and family engagement meetings and trainings events indoor activities in general Title 1 funds may be used for smaller class sizes additional teachers and paraprofessionals additional training for school staff extra time for Destruction both before and or after school programs parent and family engagement activities and or a variety of supplemental teaching cereals equipment and Technology the Sip is the school Improvement plan and by law all Title 1 schools are asked to compose an annual School Improvement plan it includes the identification of the school planning and how they will be engaged in the planning process and needs assessment and summary of academic and non-academic data prioritize goals strategies and action steps to help address the academic and non-academic needs of students instaff professional development needs and budgets and the coordination of resources a link for your school's sip plan can be found on the school website districts and schools to achieve Title One status are we by law to create policies to address parent and family engagement these policies address the following how parents and families can be involved in decision-making and activities a parent family engagement and Title 1 funds are being used how information and training will be provided to families and how the school will build capacity and families and staff for strong parent and family engagement you at the title one parent or family member the right to be involved in the development of these plans each year Bradley County Schools extends an invitation for parents to make a commitment to partner with Educators all across the district this is done with the annual signing of school are compacts and is another Avenue in which parents can be involved in the education of their children the School parent compact serves as a written commitment that outlines how the entire School Community teachers families in students will share the responsibility for improved academic achievement each year students take various State and District require test to determine their current level of performance some of those assessments include ready reading and already math tnready tcapp achievement test second grade assessment Wida access assessment aimsweb assessment there are a multitude of ways that you can be I'm an active participant in your child education Title 1 schools encourage parents to consider the following encourage your child's attendance monitor your child's grade school work within an online system for portal family events and meetings become a parent volunteer join family groups and committees and read school classroom newsletters or websites that contain examples of learning activities families can do with students at home on behalf of Charleston Elementary steam Academy thank you for watching and participating are Title One video if you have any questions or concerns please contact the school God bless go Panthers
