Student Code of Conduct

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
One of the most important lessons education should teach is discipline. Although it does not
appear as a subject, it underlies the whole educational structure. We need parents to support our
efforts to establish within the classroom an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Please take
time to discuss with your child the importance of school expectations. Students are expected to
conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all times. NO student will be allowed to bully,
harass, or make threats to another student (6.304). These and any other unacceptable behaviors
will be taken seriously and dealt with accordingly. Parents, students, and community members
can anonymously report warning signs and trouble through the TIPS reporting tool on the
Bradley Schools website. When infractions occur and escalate beyond handling by the classroom
teacher, a discipline referral will be completed and given to the principal. The principal will
address the problem and communicate with parents as necessary. The faculty, staff, and
administration will encourage and recognize good behavior for all students.

Students should not bring toys, trading cards or other electronic equipment (i.e. iPads, Kindles,
games, smart watches, or phones) to school. If these items create a distraction they will be taken
up and may be picked up by the parents. If your child has a cell phone or smart watch, it must be
turned off and remain in their backpack during school hours. Knives, guns, and other dangerous
objects are not permitted on the campus or the buses (real or toy).

Behavior Color Chart for Kindergarten- 2nd Grade
Use Guidelines:
● All students start on “Ready to Learn Green” each day.
● At least one warning will be given before a student is moved to a color for correction.
● The student will have the ability to move back up to a positive color even after moving to
a color intended for correction.
● If a student is moved to “Slow Down Yellow” he/she will be given the opportunity to
utilize the “calm down” station in his/her classroom.
● If a student is moved to “Turn it Around Red” he/she will be asked to complete a think
sheet either on their own or with the assistance of an adult. This will allow them to think
through what has occurred and communicate to staff about what he/she may need in order
to make a better choice.
● If a student should engage in behavior that could be harmful to themselves or others, they
will be moved immediately to “Parent Help Purple.”
● The behavior key will assist in informing parents/guardians of exceptional behavior and
behaviors of concern.
